TRENTON -- A fast-moving three-alarm fire severely damaged four homes in the 100 block of Boudinot Street early Tuesday morning.
The four homes are currently vacant, Chief Greg Gore said, and no one was injured in the blaze. The exterior of a fifth building was damaged on the side facing the burning rowhomes.
The fire began just after 2:45 a.m., and within minutes was upgraded to a second and third alarm. Firefighters battled the flames, which quickly spread through walls and cocklofts and jumped an alleyway, for more than two hours before the blaze was brought under control.
Police and building inspectors are currently investigating, but fire officials say there is no immediate evidence to suggest the fire was suspicious in nature.
The two vacant residences, where the fire originated, will be torn down because of severe structural damage, Gore said.
