Trenton (MERCER)---On Friday, April 10, 2009, Trenton firefighters were dispatched at approximately 9:45 p.m. to a reported structure fire with entrapment at 24 Fillmore Street. One resident reportedly jumped from the second floor prior to the arrival of firefighters. Engines 6, 10 and 7, Ladder 4 and Rescue 1 responded on the box assignment and arrived to find heavy smoke pushing from the two-story structure. An extra ladder company (Ladder 1) and an extra engine company (Engine 1) were soon special-called to the scene as interior crews encountered heavy fire inside 24 Fillmore Street and fire extension to the attached exposure (22 Fillmore Street) on Side B. As conditions deteriorated, the evacuation order was given and a roll call conducted. After a few tense seconds, an unaccounted firefighter was located safe outside. The bulk of the fire was knocked down via exterior hoselines. Crews then resumed interior operations and had the fire under control by about 10:32 p.m.
